These two future Mr. and Mrs. met in Columbia, South Carolina, “a place where no one knows the true meaning of BBQ!”. They were working for City Year, which is a non-profit AmeriCorps organization. With Kristen being from Parkville, Missouri and Kyle being from Binghamton, New York, they were both far from home but still managed to find each other. Their first date consisted of “walking off some serious Mellow Mushroom pizza at Finlay Park in Columbia” and thus began their five years of dating.
Kyle is a Strategic Account Executive at the Kansas City Star and Kristen is a first grade teacher. I’m sure her kiddos are going to miss her while she is gone! Kyle’s favorite thing about Kristen is “her astonishingly kind heart”. Kristen’s favorite thing about Kyle is “his constant positive outlook and his infectious laugh”. Adorable!
Now, for the biggest question of all that I know each and every one of you are waiting to know. How did the proposal happen!? Well…… Kyle had, “for the first time in his life”, planned a nice, Saturday morning walk with Kristen with the idea to propose at the Red Bridge Love Locks Bridge at the end of the walk. However, apparently the morning the big plan was supposed to unfold, Kristen received a call from her brother requesting Kyle to help move some heavy items into a U-Haul…. (yea). So, Kristen, ever willing to help said “yes!”. I’m sure you can imagine that this sent Kyle into freak-out mode real quick! What turned out to be the first of many red flags that morning for Kristen, was Kyle showing up for the move in cargo shorts instead of his typical athletic shorts. With the ring properly hidden in the sweet cargo pocket of his shorts, Kyle and Kristen helped load the U-Haul. Here comes the second red flag; Kristen’s brother, Justin, asked them to help UNLOAD the items and Kyle, in a complete panic move, hastily declined stating that they absolutely had to go on the walk. Way to make the boy sweat, Justin! So, after the not so smooth deflection, Kyle and Kristen finally took the walk to the Love Locks Bridge where Kyle “totally nailed (not at all) his well prepared speech” and Kristen joyfully accepted his proposal for marriage!
As for the big day, they are both looking forward to “sharing the barn’s natural beauty and comforting vibe with family and friends”. This Saturday they will be having their first dance to…………. they don’t know yet! Well they still have time right? Kristen says “maybe we’ll finally decide the day of the wedding?!”. I guess we could always have our lovely staff serenade them… No, I don’t doubt they will find the perfect song!
And after the wedding?! You won’t believe this but they will be going on an all-expenses paid trip to Cabo that Kyle won! When it comes to their marriage itself, they are both looking forward to “all the excitement about going through life with your best friend”. Their happily ever after is “cold brews and rocking chairs”. Now, that sounds pretty perfect if you ask me!
Only a few more days until these two make it official here at the farm! Congratulations Kyle and Kristen!
