In Couple's Spotlight, News, Wedding

Jessica Wahaus and Taylor Wiley both grew up right across the river from the farm in Leavenworth, Kansas. They first met in 8th grade when Jessica transferred to the same school as Taylor….straight out of a movie right! They remained friends throughout high school and as Taylor says, “Jessica didn’t realize my potential until college”. Well good thing she did otherwise we wouldn’t be here today. J Thus began their relationship.

Their first date was in Lawrence, Kansas, during their time at KU. Taylor brought Chinese takeout over and they watched a movie. They were “taking it slow!” Jessica says. After six wonderful and exciting years of dating, Taylor decided to make his move. They planned to journey back to Lawrence for the KU homecoming football game last year, but they felt guilty leaving their dog, Finn, behind for the day. So, they decided to take him to Shawnee Mission Park that morning for a swim. As they walked on the trail towards the lake, Taylor asked Jessica if she was having a good day. When Jessica turned around to answer him, Taylor was down on one knee! Little did Jessica know, the day was just beginning. Taylor had planned a surprise engagement party with their family and friends at the Oread Hotel in Lawrence. Now that’s how it’s done!

Jessica’s favorite thing about Taylor is his “craftiness in the kitchen”. “He’s made some epic meals with random things that he finds in the pantry”. Taylor’s favorite thing about Jessica is “how she enjoys the simple things in life like the taste of a fresh cappuccino, evening walks with our dog, a big hug after arriving home from work, and our endless conversations”. Come on Taylor, you’ve already got us all hooked!

What are they looking forward to the most about marriage you might ask? They are excited go on more travel adventures, continuing to spoil their dog, and simply hanging out as Mr. and Mrs.! As for getting married here at Fresh Air Farm, they said that; “When we first saw Fresh Air Farm, we knew it was “the one.” The whole venue offers an organic, timeless feel that matched perfectly with the unique experience we wanted to provide our friends and family on our special day.”

Well that special day is right around the corner and we are so excited for the future Mr. and Mrs. Wiley! Their dog, Finn, is probably pretty excited too!
