Meet Courtney and Joel. These two are both Midwest natives that have a love for the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and camping is where you’ll find them on their days off, but that’s not what brought these two together. Both Courtney and Joel work for a large Kansas City company and hadn’t ever crossed paths until they were assigned to the same project. Immediately, Courtney was impressed by Joel’s work ethic and dedication, but little did she know that Joel made sure to put in those extra hours just to become better acquainted with her. When the project was completed Joel invited Courtney to the boat show downtown as a thank you for all she contributed in finishing the project. It wasn’t until after a nice dinner and an evening of everything being paid for did Courtney realize that his “thank you” night out was actually a date (smooth!).
After a year of dating, Joel decided it was time to pop the question. However, the thing about Courtney is she’s a type A planner, valedictorian, sharp as a tack, therefore nothing gets past her, so how in the world was he going to surprise her?! Joel had to think hard, but came up with the only time that she wouldn’t expect.. after a work trip consisting of a 24 hour flight home (no shower) from Dubai. She said yes!
Their wedding day is going to merge country with American classic. Decorations include burlap, mason jars, and hydrangeas. The music will be a mix between country and Frank Sinatra. It will surely be a night to remember! Following their big night, they are honeymooning in… wait for it.. FIJI! (I feel like I’m Bob Barker announcing the grand prize on Price is Right!) Talk about dream vacation.
Courtney and Joel don’t only have big plans for their wedding day, but their life sounds like it will be pretty wonderful as well. Their happily ever after consists of a log cabin with a wraparound porch and huge glass windows overlooking a lake. The couple says they most look forward to “Growing old together, being in our 80’s; holding each other’s hand, rocking on a porch while watching a sunset and saying.. Yep we did alright now bring on another 20.”
This love story is going to be one for the books, and Fresh Air Farm is going to do our best to start their lives together off right!
